I think I must be missing the point of the anti-diesel lobbying.
Figures (arbitrarily) taken from BMW.co.uk:
420i M Sport - 42.8mpg & 151.0g/km CO₂
420d M Sport - 58.9mpg & 125.0g/km CO₂
OK, these are for new models and the diesel may well be using AdBlue to turn Nitrous Oxide and Nitrogen Dioxide into nitrogen & water but as they are using less fuel and produce less CO₂ I'm confused. Do we have a petro-chemical engineer on here to put me straight?

Yes, I went to see the black one, it drove very nicely, mechanically good but with 5 previous owners and a lot of stone chips on the bonnet and some on the roof it didn't tick the boxes for me.
Yes I've just seen the D3 touring, but the Oyster interior isn't for me.

Five owners?!? On a 2014 car? Even if Owner 1 was a Dealer that is still one a year from nearly brand new. Surely one of those owners would have enjoyed the car for more than a year or that suggests the lot of them didn't get Alpina, so maybe it was less well cared for.
Or, if it was just used as a 2nd/3rd car which has changed hands more frequently, it's too leggy at 55k.

I would have thought that owner number 1 would have been Sytners, and the only other fact that I am aware of is that owner number 5 had had the car since December 2017, i.e. 8 to 9 months ownership.
Besides looking for a D3 I have also been looking at M Sport 335d's as a fall back position (no berating me please!) also I have been checking out the additional premiums against my existing policies on my D3 and the Spec C Impreza, the next part is shocking:
1) Change over of existing D3 policy, which expires at the start of February 2019, change to 335d +£113, change to D3 +£1,175
2) Change over of existing Impreza Spec C policy, which expires in March 2019, change to 335d +£600, change to D3 +£1,715
My insurers (two different brokers and two different insurers) are having a laugh, a fresh policy via gocompare or money supermarket only cost circa £500 for the 2014 D3 god knows how they arrive at £1,200 plus for 6 months. .
Looks like I'll be cancelling one of my policies and raising a new policy if I get a D3.

Interesting to know LV are good with Alpina, in the past i have never found them that competitive for car insurance, but good for home insurance.
But for the OP, he is already insuring his D3 and the cost to transfer policy to another (newer) D3 is still ridiculous.
