BMW CCGB National Festival Gaydon 2018 - will you go?

Post by Norrie » Tue Sep 12, 2017 11:20 pm

I know there were 20 ALPINA cars on display in the ALP section in 2017 and a number of others spread around. However, what will encourage or discourage you from attending in 2018?

Went twice a few years agonand to be totally honest, apart from meeting up with Alpina friends and BMW owners and a visit around the museum it was not the most exciting event I had ever been to. At one time you could go around the Jag/Land Rover test track and that was fun but once that was stopped..

To be honest Norrie, I am fed up with Gaydon, apart from meeting fellow Alpina enthusiasts the venue holds no interest for me to travel 360 miles.
You can only go around the museum so many times.

I have to say the comments echo my feeling, I do like to catch up with people from the Club and that is the key driver for me.

I have written to the Club and asking for an indication on what will be different that might attract those who have 'done it all before'. We shall see if any response.

it appears there will be limited space at Gaydon 2018 and that priority is being given to those who are club members. I guess if someone wants to go they should get a ticket and display pass for ALPINA as soon as possible.

I understand that Sytner Nottingham have agreed to attend Gaydon 2018. They were approached by Martyn Goodwin a Club Director from the BMW Car Club GB.
To the best of my knowledge he did not consult with anyone who is normally involved with anything ALPINA, so what is going to be happening there is anyone's guess.

Sytner will be showing a B5 Touring, but will have a low key presence, with just a banner.

I can only suggest anyone wanting to know about Gaydon contacts the BMW Car Club GB directly. I am not attending so have made no enquiries concerning the ALPINA involvement.

How it normally works is this, if you are a member or a non member and have applied to park in a specific section ie ALPINA, then you will be sent a hanging tag which need to be displayed hanging from the front mirror. You will also get a wristband, both these are checked at the entrance and you would be directed to the display area relating to the hanging tag.

In terms of advertising selling a car you would need to check with the BMW CC GB if this contravenes and entry rules. But I would have though a subtle small for sale and a mobile number would probably go unnoticed by the Club officials.

The Club can also tell you how many people have applied to park in the ALPINA section. I will be interested to know how many turn up.
