E36 B3 3.2 Touring in Alpina Blue
Exactly my problem atm, I love the RS4 and I love it in Goodwood green which mine is, prices are on the up those too yes but to drive it is fantastic with just shy of 500bhp on tap with sticky tyres in the summer quite the car!ali-bumble wrote:B5 RS4 prices are on the up at the moment.
Friend of mine just sold his for £17k
It is seen as a far better drivers car that the V8 B7 RS4 and as such fast becoming a cult classic
Keep them both if you can !!
I'm just eyeing up my local bank so I can keep both

In 5-10 years time, I believe the price will be up near the £20k mark.Luke33 wrote:I hope to still have the Alpina next year and meet some of you and laugh in 5-10 years time about when I wanted a fiver short of £20k when god knows what the prices will be!
However, notwithstanding what the trader might say, I am of the opinion that an E36 B3 Touring is worth about £10-12k at the moment.

Probably more than that, someone offered me £10k for no.36 with 250k on the clock, but I declined as it's not for saleCharles wrote:In 5-10 years time, I believe the price will be up near the £20k mark.Luke33 wrote:I hope to still have the Alpina next year and meet some of you and laugh in 5-10 years time about when I wanted a fiver short of £20k when god knows what the prices will be!

I would agree with that too with out being biased of course, I just think with what the M power stuff fetches and there not as costly to buy new not as good an all rounder much easier and cheaper to service and just a more appealing car tbh and much more exclusive, much more than a bloody £20k plus Ford Sierra Cosworth with a bootshaziman wrote:Probably more than that, someone offered me £10k for no.36 with 250k on the clock, but I declined as it's not for saleCharles wrote:In 5-10 years time, I believe the price will be up near the £20k mark.Luke33 wrote:I hope to still have the Alpina next year and meet some of you and laugh in 5-10 years time about when I wanted a fiver short of £20k when god knows what the prices will be!

Perhaps it is worth more - I am just naturally conservative when it comes to rare cars and minimal reference points. I do appreciate the rarity value of Tourings as I have one myself and the higher the price eventually achieved, the better for all of us.
However, I still do not think it is worth £20k ... yet.

I have noticed alot of people on here are conservative about the price of alot rare Alpina's, some are asking alot and jumping on band wagon and using the words modern classic, investment etc and pricing them well out but then if there in no rush to sell it or dont need to then who cares? I dont, onwards and upwards, thats why I bring up the lesser brand of Ford, people asking huge amounts and getting it for Escorts and Sierras of a similar era because of the Cosworth influence, they are far from the quality of any Alpina and know where I'd rather be sat if the money was the same. I'm not after or expecting £20k which is why I have put on Ebay make offer on the price, yes there are morons out there that think its worth £5-6k which is silly considering I sold my 328i se coupe for £4k no problem at all last year, but hey each there own but I'm not prepared to under value a fantastic machine and group.Charles wrote:Perhaps it is worth more - I am just naturally conservative when it comes to rare cars and minimal reference points. It was down to the race heritage and pedigree that has made the sporting RS Fords as desirable as they currently are with the Sierra and Escort Cosworths being the cream of the crop. From them, to achieve the top figures, the cars also have to tell a story which is why there is such a wide market price at present.Luke33 wrote: I have noticed alot of people on here are conservative about the price of alot rare Alpina's, some are asking alot and jumping on band wagon and using the words modern classic, investment etc and pricing them well out but then if there in no rush to sell it or dont need to then who cares? Alpina's may well be better built based on a solid Bavarian base vehicle, but the mass public do not yet hold an affinity with Alpina like they do with the Cosworths or Ford RS models. They're cars for the masses whilst Alpina's are cars for the discerning who by nature are the minority. You will always get folk who look at an Alpina and compare to the equivalent BMW base SE model, it' not your job to educate them though so not worth trying, just thank them for their interest and hope they do well in their quest for one of the worlds rarest cars.
From my own experience selling a D3bt (E91) I had to be patient and wait the best part of a year to find someone who appreciated an Alpina. I'd honestly buy that cr straight back today if I could it was that good. Good luck with your sale, but you may end up regretting parting with it.
Nothing to see here.... move along in an orderly fashion please!

It's an age thing that teh fords of yesteryear are hitting big numbers now. People of my mid 40's age are now in a position to buy the cars they hankered after as kids. Hence the reason the price of E30s has rocketed over the past 10 years, Same with Mk3 escorts and first gen sierras.
It will be another 5 - 10 years before that hits mid 90s cars unless there sre 30 somethings out there with full wallets so yes the E36 prices will hit the roof but not for a few years IMVHO

Well amen to that, I get the hype with them and can appreciate them for where its all started etc I guess its like the E30 M3 I drove 1 of those a short while ago and wasnt very impressed, probably deserved a better piece of road but first impressions where not great, and to think what they cost you now, epsecially a decent Evo Sport geez!Paulb wrote:It was down to the race heritage and pedigree that has made the sporting RS Fords as desirable as they currently are with the Sierra and Escort Cosworths being the cream of the crop. I guess as you say the Alpina brand is a minority, people really need to drive them or at least own 1 to appreciate what they are and maybe be abit more exclusive with there choice of transport.
Its funny they guy at the Audi dealer I got it off in Perth said once he knew where I was from said your not going to drive that old thing back to Surrey are you? I said are we still talking about the Alpina!? I mean come on!
I dont doubt prices will rise on the 90's cars as they have done with some of the 80's cars and yeah I have no doubt I will regret it because I will, I am trying to sort finances out as best as possible to prevent this 1 leaving me and me kicking myself into 2018 and beyond.
