I am wondering what I can do with my Alpina B10 V8 as I am about to go abroad for a considerably long stay. I love the car; previous owner registered it in 1998 but it has only done 76,000 miles so far. Ideally I would like to put it in storage and use it whenever I return to the UK. But increasingly, this seems impractical. Is there such a thing as a car club where one could keep a car for a moderate fee and be sure that no harm would come to it in one's absence?
Good advice would be greatly appreciated.
Martin

All depends where you are, I have a storage facility near me (Kent) which is quite reasonable.
I believe they offer several storage options.

I have used a facility near Oxford, excellent but a little more than moderate.

Jonathan Sturgess who posts on here (I can't find his username at the mo) owns a company called Autostore - http://www.autostore.co.uk

Hope that helps.

James,

One of the facilities offered by Autostore is.... Monthly Mechanical Exercise (pre-pressurise oil system, start engine, warm-up and road exercise for a minimum of 20 minutes, exercising brakes & transmission, check fluid levels and report any faults discovered).

Any idea how they pre-pressurise the oil system before starting, or is that a known facility on top end cars?

Thanks,

Take the fuel pump fuse out and turn over the engine on the starter until the oil pressure light goes out, then replace the fuse and start as normal.

I do it on my cars if they haven't been used in a while.

Thanks for that info Kevin, definitely not something I have heard of before. It might be an idea for my B10 as she spends a lot of time sitting idle in my garage of late.

Apologies to the original poster for being a bit off topic.
