Classic Wheel Centre Cap

Post by Arvi » Thu May 11, 2017 10:56 am

One of my wheel centre caps seems to have vanished.

BMW have quoted £122.16, part number 91473610064

Its £105 here, anyone else purchased from any other supplier at a better price?

Cheers Phil, I think I saw that link when looking at another post. Just thought with exchange rates and international posting, in case there were any problems I better try our local suppliers !

Damn it!

One of my lock broke - don't even know how this could happen.
At first the key wouldn't turn the barrel so when I took out the lock the pins fell out (look like bullets) causing the whole barrel to fall out.

What a nighmare!

This is part of a brand new set of locks I purchased last year from the BMW.

I just hope Alpina can supply another barrel matching the other three.

Don't BMW parts have a 2 year guarantee ? Hopefully thy will sort you out ?

I managed to get the cap for £95 from BMW in the end via a friend. Going to superglue that diamond down!

Just dropped into BMW to sort.

I assume the warranty will replace the lock.

I received the Cap this week. It comes with black felt 3M stickers.

It only came with one key though which I thought was a bit tight considering the £122 price tag originally quoted. But then we are talking BMW, though I should be grateful it came with the stickers I guess!

Assume any key cutter will be good for making a copy?

That is tight of them!

I was lucky enough to get a full replacement under warranty, and I received 4 keys with my locks.

I would demand another key given the price of the centre cap.

These are the things about Alpina I loath.
They charge through the nose for parts and the customer receives the bare minimum for their money.

They were awful when when I returned a set of floor mats.
I received mats for an E46 not my E36. The whole saga took about 2 months to resolve. With some assertive nudging from my dealer they eventually accepted the return and provided the correct mats.

I asked Sytner why only one key - the answer was you got 4 with the car as it was 1 key per cap. Still I reckon you should get 2 keys at least!

Went to fit the cap and its the wrong one. The part number is correct but whoever did the order pick for BMW put the wrong cap in the envelope, so need to go back and ask them to re-order

For anyone looking to order in the future, if you quote the 7 digit number on the wheel that is engraved in the centre (visible when you take the cap off) it helps Sytner identity the cap you need. You then need to pray that the person picking the order can read numbers correctly
