Here in Australia we can only personally import cars built 1988 or earlier (unless you are migrating or returning having owned and used the car for over 12 months). So I can't import an e39 Alpina B10 3.3. What I do have is a very well looked after e39 528i which I have had for 10 years. Not worth much in second hand value but worth a lot to me. I can, however, import components so if I could find an engine (and preferably an auto gearbox to match) I could get some of the way towards my goal. What else would I need in the way of engine management/brakes/suspension? Not to worried about the Alpina cosmetics.
Thanks.

B10 e39 3.3 engine
1997 E39 528i Sundown Metallic
You'd need the engine ECU, but you'd want the alpina exhaust, air box engine Loom as its a single vanos engine fitted to a car with double vanos? then there would be EWS issues to contend with as it wouldn't match the rest
Basically you want everything connected to the engine in everyway, well i would to make it a bolt job and then get a wizz kid to sort the EWS and off you go.
You'd be more likely to get a 3.3 engine from an e46 over here as there are lots of doggy ones now and they sold alot in the UK in terms of alpina numbers and the hounds are often cheap and the engines are strong . Something like a doom blue saloon with 150k on it and a rough grey leather trim that no one wants now.
