Alpina plaque

Post by BarryM » Wed May 25, 2016 11:46 pm

I've often looked at the plaque in the roof and thought it looked a bit scruffy but was worried that if I tried to clean it I'd end up rubbing the lettering out as it looked a bit weak to start with, bit the bullet this evening as I'm going to fit a homelink module into the area there.

I'm actually a bit embarrassed to show how bad it was but very pleased now.

Before (I'd cleaned the r/h side a bit):

Those photos make the lining look pretty scruffy as well but it's not as bad as it looks although it's now on my to do list as well.

That's what I was worried about but after cleaning it seems fine. I used Boots No. 7 facial wipes, they're very handy on the car interior.

I figure if they don't harm my better half then they're pretty safe on the car as well :)

So why are you shutting yourself away with your car in the garage now then? :)

Good tip though.

TBH Jim, you can only just fit the B10 in the garage, not much chance of doing anything else in there :(

Here's the clean plaque back in place along with my new Homelink from the States, remote controlled door now working from button 1 :)

Mine is looking rather tatty, scratched to be more accurate. Is there anyway to have them refurbished for want of a better phrase? :(

I rather like the patina that the plaques acquire with age. :)
