Yes a great read but still say a 'BMW tuner' even after getting it right in their article on Alpina 50 years.

I have owned the Audi 3.0 TDI and they are very smooth, and remapped, they are very brisk.

But the D3 is MUCH quicker. Mine really feels like an M3 now, which the Audi certainly doesn't.

I think the biggest issue for the A7 is bulk - a much heavier/larger car than the D3.

The BiTDi is quite a lump though!

I drove the BiTDI when it first came out, and whilst it is powerful on boost, I found the combination of the gearbox and the turbos gave a horrible lag, especially off the line. Don't know if I had a bad example, and there is no reason why a biturbo should have worse lag than a single turbo (it should be better), but that is what I found. So severe that on the test drive I tried to pull onto a roundabout and it hesitated and then set off almost causing an accident.

The S6 on the other hand was sublime!!

Got a mention in this weeks Autocar after sending them an email pointing out their error about Alpina being a tuner. Well done to Autocar for putting it right.

Next is AutoExpress !!
