Insurance advice for B3 Touring please
Insurance advice for B3 Touring please
So its that time again when the Alpina B3 Touring needs insurance. My 15 years NCB is allocated to the M3. So far I have received quote of £1600 + from Adrian flux and £600 from Sky insurance. I will do les than 2000 miles. Any tips or borkers you would recommend?
Has anyone insured their Alpina under classic car policy? Footman James apparently will insure any BMW under classic car policy if you are a BMW car club member.
I have valued the car at £9,000 is that fair valuation?
Thanks in advcance.

We also found Adrian Flux very expensive when we bought the B3 Touring back in June. So we ended up going with A-Plan. We have also moved the E30 M3 over to them as well. Both are on classic car cover with agreed value.
Another you could try is Peter Best Insurance. Have used them in the past and have always been happy with them.

How about a multicar policy?
I insure with Admiral for three cars - one for me, one for my wife and one to share - and IIRC correctly, they recognise that even I can't drive two cars at the same time! As such, they allocate my NCB on two of the cars - the ALPINA and the shared Megane.
Current premium on the B3S Touring is £180 - and that is for 20k miles a year and a guaranteed value of £12k.

We also tried Churchill for the B3, but they don't do classic car policy's with agreed value. They were cheaper than all the others though.
Peter Best also do multi car classic policy's if that is the route you want to take.
£600 for you B3 Touring is damned expensive and you should shop around. Lots of good suggestions on who to try have already been given.
Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

My son phoned you regarding the 1989 E30 M3 and the recently purchased 1997 Alpina B3 3.2 Touring. I cant remember the price that you quoted, but it was much higher than the £450 that A-Plan quoted for both cars.DAN@ADRIAN FLUX wrote:Hi,
I'm surprised that we seem so expensive compared to your alternative quotations. I'd appreciate it if you would PM me your details so I could take a look into this.
Regards,
Dan.
To be honest, in the past we have found you very competitive for modern cars, but much more expensive for the classics.

How did you get this Charles? I have multi car insurance with Admiral for 4 cars... But how can I get a guaranteed value for the ALPINA D3 and the 2 Jaguars?Charles wrote:How about a multicar policy?

They don't do more than 10k miles each! and I have NCB protected of 14 years for these 3 cars. But they only gave 3 years for the newly acquired Subaru WRX STI...
And the name is Marie-Noëlle or nick name MNL, NOT Marie or Noëlle ALONE; unless if you are looking for someone else and not me!!!

Thanks for the feedback.
That also does surprise me. If anything I would have thought it would have been the other way round as normally we are extremely competitive on most classic cars.

Dan.
Sadly Dan we have never found that when calling you guys for a quotation on our classics. I think others here have found the same unfortunately.DAN@ADRIAN FLUX wrote:Thanks for the feedback.

Some years ago we used to use you for most of our cars. But these days your prices for classic cover have just rocketed for some reason. But your cover for modern cars still remains very competitive.
Funny thing is, Churchill were even cheaper than A-Plan for the Alpina. But they could not offer an agreed value classic policy.

I told them what value I wanted for each car - either an agreed value or market value. As for the NCB, the ALPINA is on my NCB, the Espace is on my wife's and the Megane is in my name and they confirmed my NCB would apply to both cars for the reasons stated previously.I_MNL wrote:How did you get this Charles? I do find that I need to tell them very clearly what I want and then get them to repeat it back to me!
