I had a nervous moment today whilst in our local Sainsbury's car park. There I was, having become stationary in the car park whilst awaiting a car in front to maneouvre, when out of the corner of my eye I caught sight of a car reversing towards me...and it had no rear parking sensors and a helluva big butt. Have to say, roof down made it feel quite threatening to us side-on

A quick tap on the horn alerted him to our presence and an incident thus avoided...but a worrying moment! Have some people never heard of mirrors?

Well, the door is now fitted but it appears the shunt has shifted the bottom hinge slightly.

Nothing that a little bit of "light adjustment" won't treat but a shame it didn't all go back into place without issues.

MOT booked for Tuesday at a discounted price of Â£39 so total outlay on the job will now come to Â£240 (including buying the car from the insurers for Â£70)

Slight change to costs as the car failed its MOT on a split CV joint gaiter. Easily repaired and now I'm the proud owner of a MOT pass certificate with an advisory that the indicator bulbs are less yellow than they ideally should be.

The good news is that the shunt hasn't affected anything major and so we are back on the road - subject to VOSA checking that by changing the driver's door I haven't inadvertently changed the identity of the car!!!

Thats amazing.
You'd still be up out the deal if you bought it back and scrapped it.
Well done for persevering with it all and I hope the insurance sorts itelff out for you

Oops!

Should have mentioned that the car passed the VOSA test and is now fully operational.

Just the matter of some light adjustment to the door hinges to properly align the new door - the impact appears to have shifted them a touch - and we are home and dry
