the plaque looks genuine and it had the alpina suspension package at some stage in its life as the sticker looks the age of the car, but the owner won't give the main details we have been asking for (for whatever reason), and as its missing a huge amount then we can't say yes it is a B10.

When I spoke to Sytners many years ago, the old hands were telling me that they can't recall a buyer of any e23 having the suspension package on its own fitted, e28 yes but not an e23, but maybe this is one that did and somewhere along the line it 'gained' a plaque? But even so that was nigh on 33 years ago now so those would be long gone I'm sure.

It is a feb 86 car, so would have been one of the last Sytner built e23 B10's. so #18 may be right, but the wheels are definatley replica's, maybe the originals if fitted were stolen at some stage?

Trouble is, some owners at the time ordered their cars without all the loud parts (i.e the dash or badges etc) so the car blended in, but did this one have those or not? The vin isn't on my list of B10's and apparently Sytners can't say it was either. I have 2 missing on my list of e23's and unfortunately neither of these match this cars vin.

Hard one really, is it one or is it becoming a hugely expensive 735i SE? Not sure we'll ever find out.

Surprised that there are no engine bay shots - but would that help in trying to identify the car?

unfortunately none of the UK cars had a 6 branch system fitted, the proximity to the steering box etc ruled that out unless someone had one made specifically (which I know a few did later in their cars life). But he has told Gee that this one has one fitted, if so why not post a picture?

The ECU is tucked up near the drivers feet, so thats easy to get to, that would be an easy link if the seller actually looked same with the engine numbers again, have advised the seller of where to find the head number but to date he's either not looked or has and its not there and is avoiding the reality of what he has. The harder bit would be finding the number on the block however.

This just leads me to a lazy seller doing the minimum to sell his car and the buyer really needs to do his homework before collecting.

There's already one 'fake' B10 e23 around that's attending the shows, will this be another in years to come?
