e46 B3 S Saloon #34 Definitely for Sale - Photos Added

Post by Mr Noops » Wed Jul 26, 2023 1:24 pm

Hi everyone - long time no post and this is a slightly sad one.

Thinking about selling this car due to living inside the ULEZ and needing a Euro 4 Compliant car.

Nachtblau / Champagne Lavalina.130K Miles. Been my personal car for ~9yrs/50K Miles - 'rolling restoration' - mechanicals are good (incl. recent transmission rebuild) and very recent complete fluids n filters. Am still often using it between London and Manchester. Body getting a little tired and def needs rear arches tidying and the whole car would be much nicer if painted.
Been continuously taxed/insured/MoT'd during my ownership.

Appreciate this is hard to value so am just taking the temperature here prior to putting it out 'in the wild'.

If anyone's looking for a quality, workable e46 Saloon project, please get in touch.

Your car IS ULEZ compliant - see here - but you will need to register it manually - see here

Hi folks - thx for rapid interesting replies to my dilemma - pls refer this answer fm Alpina:

"The BMW ALPINA B3 S *HE50034 has EURO 3 and the NOx value is 0,0760g/km.

If you need an official confirmation about these informations, please tell us your invoice/delivery address.
The confirmation costs € 63,03 net. + postage.

Hope this will help you.
"

So from this it would seem that I could get a cert, but it would only be for Euro3?

Any insight warmly rec'd.

The important thing is the NOx value which is less than the ULEZ threshold of 0.08. Therefore, your car is an "early adopter" of the Euro4 standards and is ULEZ compliant.

Purchase the certificate from Alpina and then follow this guide to register your car manually with TfL.

I have an E46 B3S and this is what I had to do.

...righty-oh...having had time to properly read links etc. I now understand which steps, which order - many thanks Charles - really appreciate that.

I will probably begin this process as it'll make it easier to sell but, I think it really has to be sold - just too many other projects on the go ATM.

All offers properly considered, no offence taken - would like it to go to someone with spare time/money/space.

Cheers,

Had some time to collate the following details (may not be exhaustive...):

e46 Alpina B3 S Saloon #34 SwitchTronic
Nachtblau Metallic Individual with Champagne Lavalina - Heated fronts. Extended leather - Transmission tunnel. Walnut burl trim. 4 good Alpina floormats. Interior in good condition.
Gloss Shadowline trim
Xenon headlights
Harman / kardon sound system with BMW CD/NAV changer.
A/C (recently charged)
Rear PDC/Cruise, etc.
Original Sytner key & ring + 1 other key.
Spacesaver spare & accessories present.

My general in-service car for the last 9 years. 4 Former keepers, 130K Miles, Boxfile of service history, Transmission rebuild in last 7K Miles, Air/oil/fuel/cabin filters & Oil/Coolant/Brakefluid this month. Toyo Proxies have ~5mm. BMW Owners pack c/w Alpina B3 S supplement, 2 Spare front wheels + Centre caps. Alpina replacement torque converter plate fitted, aux airpump replaced. 2 Spare front wheels + Centre cap. Sitting on AP coils (worn original suspension avail). Original exhaust. Rear arches need lightly restored but OK. Overall paint is worn so would benefit from repaint. A little kerb rash on rear wheels. No missing pieces (3.4 engine cover number badge in baggie in glovebox.), No warning lights, no funny noises, starts on the key, pulls like a train. Mot'd until Nov. ULEZ compliant. Plate by separate negotiation.

Photos to follow presently...

Random additional info / stuff done during ownership:

Spec:
Heated mirrors & headlamp wash - both working

Maint/parts changes:
Coil packs - #3 was getting weak
Short steering hose - slight leak @ crimp
Diff oil changes
Replacement Meyle Front wishbones c/w Powerflex bushes - brilliant investment

NB:
Sliding transmission tunnel cubby swapped for double cupholders (can't spec armrest & cupholders together originally - sliding cubby avail if you want to swap back...)
Brakes will be OK for a good while

Thank you to all who have made contact - I hope I've answered all queries successfully and not missed anybody.

That said, only low-ish offers to date mean I'm happy to drop price to find it a good new home.

An Alpina saloon with good mechanicals for a 4 figure sum - are there any serious takers ~£6K level before it goes to some sort of auction?

Drop me an IM and we can make contact for a chat...
