Swiss Toni wrote: BTW, why do we see so many German registered Alpinas with "AOL" in the registration?

Just the area tag similar to how we do it (where the car was registered).

The reason OAL is seen so much on Alpina's is that it is the regional registration for the part of Bavaria that covers Buchloe.

My B10 was originally registered OAL-BB10, as it was owned by the master himself Burkhard Bovensiepen for 18 months

OAL is the licensing area for Buchloe - which for those who don't know is where ALPINA are based.

Not that I am suggesting for a moment Swiss Toni that you didn't know that - please don't take any personal offence :)

If the car in the pic is a B7 Turbo which i think it is ! It will eat a D3 for breakfast.

Never underestimate an old Alpina
Knew that'd get a response  I see you've ordered a D3 now as well :)

With its unique history was the car more expensive than the other B10s that where available at the time?

OAL BB10 I believe is a plate owned by ALPINA and is used for their press/demo cars.. I wouldn't think the car would be that much more expensive.. apart from the fact that it would be a high spec'd model for ALPINA to have it as either a show car or one of their demos..

Okay, so it's not a caption, but am I the only person who finds it odd that this car has only one side mirror? Looks like an E28... should have two, surely?

in the 70's and 80's I remember when most of the cars around only had 1 win mirror (the drivers side)

surely this is the reason for the B7 having only 1?
