How long do the tyres last on a D3 BT

Post by JANES » Thu Feb 25, 2010 4:30 pm

Hi all,

I've just picked up my D3 BT from Sytner, yes very excited and no I've not had chance to add it to your register yet but I will do when I get chance. Actually slightly disturbed whan I picked it up as I've got No 13, good job I'm not very superstitious.

My question is how long do the tyres last? I've just bought one that is 4 months old and done just over 5,000 miles (it had been run about by the manager of some porsche dealer from new) and it looks to me like half the tread has gone already.

So you guys how often have you all been changing your tyres?

I've just changed the back ones at 20k - they had about 3mm left. Fronts still have about 5mm. I've always used as a rule of thumb that you get 20k out of the driven wheels and 25k-30k from the others.

My B10 (3.3) does about 10K on the rears and double on the fronts

We have a 2007 D3 monoturbo which has done nearly 38k on it's original tyres. The rears will need changing in the next couple of months but the fronts have plenty of tread left.

Don't know why they have lasted so long, although it is mainly motorway work that it does - but it has also done a few laps of the Nurburgring which should have increased the wear.

Think I got 24k out of my rears (D3 Mono). Very much depends on how well the pressure was maintained and of course, driving style.

Hopefully I'll get decent mileage out of my 2nd set of PS2's. The first set of rears were toast at 16K

I have only ever had one set of PS2s on my car (at the rear) and they lasted about 15k miles.

Before and since then I have stuck to original PS tyres (yes, I can still get them via Micheldever) and I have consistently got 20k from the rears and 40k from the fronts.

I would expect you might get nearer 20k out of rear PS2s but I wouldn't expect miracles.
