Henry, try A Plan in Thatcham. They are superb at classic policies and really understand the market for the classic enthusiast who’s looking after a car as weekend and cherished example. They’ll get you a great policy at keen price with agreed value etc

I have just joined the Alpina register and reading this made my eyes water, some of the prices quoted are way beyond what I’d be prepared to pay. Having just acquired a 1999 b3 needing lots of work. It would be a hobby car doing less than 2000 miles a year. I went on the comparison sites to get insurance for my wife with me as second driver and was quoted £148 by BeWise. That I can live with :D We are both in our 60s
Henry, I hope I am not wrong, but please do check your insurance document and make sure it clearly states the vehicle as an ALPINA B3. Your age has little to do with it, remember a car 20 years old and being an ALPINA may be difficult to have fixed and ALPINA specific parts are marked up by BMW UK up to 40%. No wonder your premiums would be higher. I have come accross someone who thought they were insured as the insurer used the doner BMW Vin number and not the ALPINA vin number, so their document said BMW 320D in that specific case. I hope you did get a cheaper price but just having a legal piece of paper does not get your car repaired.

You're such a worrier sometimes, Norrie.

I've just been quoted £181 for a B10 V8S Touring - long story, don't get excited, no story here - so these premiums are achievable.

As soon as I read your reply Charles I looked up the online docs, It clearly states it’s an Alpina b3 auto. I’ve got it insured in the wife’s name so both of us can maintain maximum ncb.

I was trying to put together a multicar quote from LV to wave in front of Admiral who have misunderstood the concept of customer loyalty - again.

However, the only 2003 ALPINA they had was a B10 V8S (saloon and touring).

Honestly ...

That’s why online insurance sites are hopeless when it comes to our cars, unless you are interested in a V8s that is... :D

But it forms the basis of a conversation assuming they are interested in a 4 car three grand policy

I found my B5 at LV (and have insured it there 'cos it was the only site that would touch the LSD), but I had to look under BMW first and then Alpina if that helps at all...

I saw your previous post on this explaining how difficult it was to find the listing - it was helpful then and helpful again now.

Unfortunately, they don't yet list my 2003 B3S Touring - hence the scheduled conversation.

Yes you do! Read the first sentence of your reply to Henry. You are concerned that his - not your - insurance quote might be wrong.

Charles , OK, we will use the word worry in this context to mean, I do not loose sleep, have my life changed or and overly concerned. In that respect I am not worried about the outcome.
