Deco stripes

Post by will79 » Thu Feb 22, 2024 5:11 pm

Hi. I’m looking to get a deco set fitted to my F31 D3. Aside from the recommended forum member I’m
Guessing the only other option is Sytner. If so can anyone advise what a very rough cost to having the side stripes supplied and fitted is. I have no idea if we’re talking £100 or £700. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thank you. Will

Will,

I got a set off ebay not original for my B3 cost me £75. Good quality, would say yer can't tell the difference as I've put them against the originals on my B4. I had them scanned by a local graphics company and compressed to fit on the B4's bonnet. All in £70 fitted, the match is perfect. Graphics is graphics I'd say, nothing special as long as they are quality. I wasn't going to pay £300 plus off of Sytner for decals!

Hi,

Sorry to bump an older thread.

Can anyone recommend where to get a stripe kit for an E39 B10?

I can't seem find anything on eBay other than from abroad.

Alternatively, would anyone be kind enough to take some good clear pictures of their factory ones so I can get a set made up please? 😁

Hi all,

Arnt all the decals the same, its just how you fit them that differs per model?

The expert is Simon Alcorn. He fitted them to my B7 and has probably done 100 Alpina vehicles. Talking to him and watching him fit them on a number of cars I would say in my view they are not all the same and not easy to fit correctly.

I second that.

I spent an unhurried weekend getting them positioned exactly right. They come in cut sections so very easy to get it wrong and end up with them running out or up and down along the entire length of the car.

Even then I got one of the “ALPINA” decals about a millimetre too high and ended up buying another one, it is that noticeable.

I’ve seen some fitted by body shops too and not at the correct height.

Yeh agree the fitment process is extremely important as one wrong move and it could end up looking so wrong.
