Our cars & Social Media

Post by Fast3000 » Tue Feb 25, 2020 10:14 pm

If someone posts a picture of your car on social media without your knowledge or say so...don't you think it is out of order?

You could take it as a compliment. They are not breaking any laws. You can do a google image search of you Reg if you want to find any pics which include your reg.
Nothing can be traced by publishing a registration number apart from publicly available info.

In the majority of cases I would see it as a compliment too. As a brand which is unusual, they obviously draw the attention of petrolheads and in this age of social media it's far easier for people to share info.

It's a good way of looking at it. I mentioned this as there is an Instagram account which looks like an automated software which scrapes and reposts Alpina pics a few times a day. It would be nice to know who the compliement is from but I guess it doesnt work like that!

I guess it depends on how the picture is portrayed? If any narrative is positive then I guess it ok, but say for example some copied your car and said it was a load of xxxx, then not so good. I found I went to a show once and then the next year the show organisers had my car on their website, I was not phased either way.

But with all the CCTV, speed cameras, security cameras and so on and the fact its not illegal to take images (of cars in a public place) I cant get too excited either way.

As soon as you post a picture on social media you pretty much lose all rights to it so I guess it is up to you to watch what you post

Hi, I know this is an old thread, but I'd like to revive it with my 2 cents. I totally get you, it's kinda creepy when someone posts a picture of your car without asking first. But you know what, social media is a wild place and people just post whatever they want, right? But it's always better to be polite and ask for permission before posting someone else's property. Just be cool about it and respect people's privacy. Speaking of posting pics of your car, have you ever thought about using social media to show off your ride? It's a great way to connect with other car enthusiasts and get your ride noticed. And if you want more followers on LinkedIn, you can buy permanent linkedin followers. It's an easy way to boost your online presence and get more people to see your posts. Anyway, just my 2 cents. What about you? What do you think?
