New to the Forum, D3 Touring

Post by Simon Rose » Mon Nov 12, 2018 1:55 am

Hi there,

I've had my D3 for under a year and I am loving it. I drive to Snowdonia area and back to London an a regular basis. I had no idea about the forum till now! I have only seen one Alpina on the road and that was my neibour! If there are any D3 Touring fans out there that can advise me on a few things please let me know, initially advise on Winter Tyres is welcome!!
Thanks
Simon
Ps
Hope you like the pics, trying to be arty!

Welcome.
Nice car. I have 079 Melbourne Red F31.
Regarding winter tyres, I’m about to try Michelin Pilot PA4 winters on 19” M3 style wheels.
The reviews are positive and the cost is reasonable.

Ps
What’s the difference between the f30 and f31. I’ve never seen another touring. What colour is yours.

The Exx/Fxx/Gxx numbers are BMW’s internal references for the different generations of body styles. Your generation of 3Series was the F3x; with F30 designating Saloon, F31 Touring and because of the name changes the F32 is 4Series Coupe and F33 4Series Convertible.

Hope that helps

Mine is a Grey F31 with Saddle Brown Leather. Late 2016 number 242...I have no idea how the numbering system works...as yours is a year later with an earlier plaque number.

Also just noticed time and date of my post showing 12:13am 21/11/18. Perhaps someone can re-set things to winter time perhaps? Thanks.
