New B4S - Finally!

Post by b0ardgamer » Sat Jun 30, 2018 9:01 pm

So this was a long wait - I ordered in November, but deliberately chose to delay delivery until April, partly for financial reasons. Then it didn't arrive until mid-June. At Last! Except I immediately drive it to the detailer, and didn't see it again for 2 (long) weeks. But today, I finally took real possession of the car. So another Alpina joins the fold.

It (obviously named Bluebird by my wife, though I'm not entirely sure she has ever heard of Malcolm Campbell) is number 273, B4S in Snapper Rocks. Sytner tell me there are 4 B4S coupes in the UK, and only mine is Snapper Rocks, so (for the moment) it is unique! In the picture it looks quite blue, but in the flesh it is much more turquoise.

I'm very happy with the car, but am treating it gently, at least for a few miles more. As an illustration, about 10 miles after collecting the car, I suddenly came onto a section of road that had just been "treated", ie fresh tar + ~20mm of loose stones. Bearing in mind it was 28 degrees today (so the tar was like syrup), and I'd just had the car detailed, I wasn't exactly joyous. Into the first entry I could find, and back the way I came (at 3mph, and it still sounded like I was sandblasting the arches with tungsten carbide rocks). Fortunately no damage done. (That extra PPF behind the rear wheels felt worthwhile today.)

I've ticked almost everything on the options list (even a towbar!), but not the dumb driver aids. The Digital Display is an almost totally useless gimmick, but I still couldn't resist......

Ps what is the black circle on the front end close to the parking sensor?

Hap, that Snapper Blue Sytner car is a D4.

The black circle is a camera for the surround view.

Lovely car and spec OP, many congrats and enjoy!
