asked Alpina Germany for suspension settings

Post by vblanche » Wed Apr 28, 2010 11:22 am

Hello,

I've contacted Alpina Germany to get the original technical data for my particular car. regarding the suspension settings, I got back data for camber, toe, etc...but tyres are written to be 225/40 R18 (front) and 255/35 R18 (rear). So, can I use the data for a future wheel alignment even if wheels are not the same?

thanks
vincent

It should be fine as based on the alignment details for the E39 B10 V8 these are the same regardless of if the wheel are standard 18"s or 19"s
.

Hope this helps

Simon, IIRC Thomas V8 checked with ALPINA and 19's have different settings to his handbook which only list 18's.

That is interesting because according to Thomas when he posted asking for the setting for a 19" classics I posted my setting from my handbook and Thomas confirmed that they were the same as in his handbook. Have a look at this thread to re-fresh your memory - http://thealpinaregister.com/forums/vie ... highlight=

Vincent if you want a definitive answer I suggest you talk to the factory and then they can confirm the settings for you.

Originally, I've contacted Alpina Germany via the contact form on their website and Elena Disendorf (sales department, Alpina Buchloe) replied and send me the technical data. Who should I contact? factory, how?
Thanks,
Vincent

Not sure if he is the right person as I think he is primarily on the sales side of things. But there has been regular mention of a guy called Kris at the factory in Germany and he has always been very helpful.

Hope that helps a little. You have not stated how current wheels and tyres differ from the originals are they a size down?

IIRC Thomas made another thread a couple of days later.

Also Thomas and I confirmed today via text that I was right about the the feedback he had from ALPINA.

No, current tyres are standards: front 235/35 R19 and rear 265/30 R19, on 19" classics wheels.

Got another reply from Germany:
the 19" wheels get the same settings than the 18" - the only difference is
the measured high because of 1/2" difference:

constructional height front: 609 +-10mm
constructional height rear: 590+-10mm
does it make sense?

thanks

I guess that means the ride height is 1/2" higher with 19" wheels...? (Ride height is often part of the alignment checks)

I think it's usually measured from the hub centre to the wheel arch, but those measurements look too big. Maybe ground to arch?
