As much as I like the Alpinas, I think the crown goes to the RS6

Good point this poll predates the B5 - I'll add it
i'm now a little biased so voted B10 but I reckon the B5 would be the current best estate/touring

Hey, I've owned 2 of these cars!
Has to be the B5. The RS6 can't keep up (except in the wet) and the B10, while lovely, is slightly outdated and comprehensively outperformed. The B8 is a ferocious little beast and highly recommended if that's what you want - much more raw than an Audi S/RS4, I'd suspect, with pace that falls in between the two.

What about the C55 AMG, and indeed the E55 AMG...? Both are impressive I believe.
However, were I in the fortunate position, my cash'd be spent on a B5 Touring.
Saying that the new RS4 Avant is pretty cool... but not auto. And how about a V10 S6 Avant... an interesting proposition, and the new RS6 should be positively scary.
A surprisingly crowded sector when you come to think of it.
