...and to think I got slagged off for trying to sell it for £40K!!

Oh well, at least I got to own it for a while - it's a beautiful car but even I can't believe the latest asking price.

Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing it was condition based - but will check with the seller. However, some people do recommend changing the oil every year on performance cars so wasn't sure if that would make a difference?

Thanks

B3 Convertible

Dear Forum, The hunt for a replacement Alpina continues. Found this one on Autotrader - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201605194093128?maximum-mileage=up_to_50000_miles&keywords=alpina&onesearchad=new%2Cnearlynew%2Cused&sort=default&search-target=usedcars&radius=1500&page=2&searchcont...

Thanks All, looks like I might have to organise a trip to view the car - although there seems to be a black B3 convertible 'coming soon' at Sytner Oldbury!

Thanks James, useful to know. I agree that the interior trim isn't ideal - maybe it looks better in the flesh! The problem for me is, these are so rare that I'm going to have to compromise on something - mileage, spec, trim etc. But, I need to not get carried away with the first one I find! Cheers, ...

Thanks, that's reassuring to hear.

It is well-specced but doesn't have surround-view (which I haven't had on a car yet) or comfort access. Do people think they're must-haves on a car like this?

Thanks,

I agree, the D5 does look nice, I'm just slightly nervous about buying a car with over 40k mileage - never done that before. The B12 went to another 8-series fan, who had also tried to buy it last year from Sytner. I got the price I was looking for in the end thanks, but I'm surprised by how much I ...

Alpina D5 at Sytner

Dear All, I've only been without my car for one week, but I'm already missing being an Alpina owner! So, to try and rectify this I've been on the hunt. I found the following car at Sytner Nottingham - http://www.sytner.co.uk/car-search/5963705-alpina-d5-d5-3.0-bi-turbo-4dr-switch-tronic/ What do you...

Thanks. I haven't sold a car privately for decades, and have never sold anything on eBay before! I'll see how things go with the auction, but in the meantime I still get to drive it!

I'm sure you remember that Sytner originally started advertising the car at £60k! They slowly dropped it, and I think the final advertised price was £40K? Classic Cars valued it at £37k - £60k, which highlights how difficult it is to price these cars because they're so rare. I don't think there ...

Hi Elan, Yes, it is the one on eBay. It is a beautiful car and I will be sorry to see it go, but I don't think I'm ready for classic car ownership just yet - I need to get a house with a garage! The car is very difficult to value, because it's so rare, so I've set the reserve price at £45,000 - but...

selling my E31 B12

Hi All, Just wanted to say that, with a heavy heart, I've decided to sell my E31 B12 5.0. I haven't had it for long, and it still puts a smile on my face every time I look at it, but I have realised that I am becoming too nervous to use it (as much as I need to), in view of it's classic status! My w...

Thanks, will look into the carcoon. I have heard the tip about not idling on the driveway before so I make sure I do drive straight off it. Sadly, driveway layout precludes the car-port option, although Insurance are okay with the car being on the driveway - maybe because it's behind our electric ga...

Thanks again to everyone for all of the advice. Alpina plaque number is "B12/50/8369." I think I will probably end up doing between 2-3,000 miles a year on it, and will definitely be servicing it regularly. I've heard Birds Garage in Iver are meant to be good for Alpina's - does anyone have any expe...

I agree with you, but I'm making sure it gets driven now!

Slightly torn between wanting to use it regularly, but also wanting to keep the mileage down to retain it's value
