I Iom and Ch Isles have own currencies which are 1:1 linked to Sterling- just as Alex would like - but crown dependencies have no say in sterling as would happen to ScOut if Alex decided to use sterling. ! If I were you I'd get some winter tyres for the UK on a spare set of rims in any event!

They work best under 8 degrees C- which seems like most of UK winter and are better in wet weather as well.

Altrenative is to winter in Cape Town- which you may alreday do?
