Re: Bmw B3 3.0 Switch Tronic - VDO Twin cable connectors combinations
Hi Hitesh, I'm afraid I can't help you with the cable colours, but the VDO gauges on my car (E36 3.2) are for engine oil temp/pressure and gearbox temp/pressure. I know that one of the connectors you're referring to will connect to the sensor that is mounted on the oil filter housing cap - you'll se...

Re: Further adventures of E36 3.2 Convertible #77
I had been putting up with a slow but steady coolant leak from somewhere under the inlet manifold since the engine had been put back in at the start of the summer, and decided to get it sorted. I'd already established by peering down between the branches of the inlet that the leak had to be coming f...

Re: E36 B2.5 #0793055
Hurrah for hugely optimistic E36 pricing! Perhaps one day my children will sell my money pit for more than I put into it?
In all seriousness its a shame if it stops enthusiasts getting into these cars whist they're still reasonably priced given their condition.

Re: Talk to me about E36 alloys.
I think I'm feeding you bad info - I'd assumed your valves would screw into the body of the wheel, as mine do albeit behind the centre caps. If yours are like those pictured below then they're probably a tyre off job to change unfortunately. But you can probably tell by looking at them and comparing...

Re: Talk to me about E36 alloys.
James, FWIW fitting new metal valves, or replacing the very cheap rubber o-ring that is probably the cause of your leaks, is very straightforward. Alloy Wheels Direct will supply you 2x new metal valves. These will come with new o-rings. Buy a 5-pack of these o-rings and you'll have spares for life ...

Re: B2.5 Coupe - A little TLC
Great job mate! My fan has stopped too, but was working fine before the cover above and removable bulkhead in front of it were taken out to get the cylinder head out. I suspect that I've dislodged something so going to need to get around to whipping it all out again to have a look. Apparently the mi...

Re: B10 V8 1999 Head Gasket
I can't help you but thought I'd post a related reply as nobody else has been able to. I changed my HG on a 3.2 6-cyl engine. It was like the first pics in the link you sent - i.e. a fibre based gasket with metal rings around the cylinders and red lines of pre-impregnated sealant. I believe this to ...

Re: Further adventures of E36 3.2 Convertible #77
Broken easy out day! I can tell you that it is not easy to get an easy out out if the easy out doesn't want out... Hardened steel wasn't going to be drilled, and some solid whacks with a cold chisel made no difference. Angle grinder time  IMG_3328.JPG The scene of the crime. IMG_3327.JPG Bu...

Further adventures of E36 3.2 Convertible #77
This thread picks up where this one left off... https://thealpinaregister.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=24461 A head gasket DIY that escalated significantly but all worked out alright in the end - saved you a read :) IMG_3079.JPG This is my car, back on the road and in very intermittent use down in...

Re: D5 Touring Rear Air Suspension Units
Hello all, I have a non-Alpina F11 5 series touring, and would encourage any of you with even a hint of suspension bag failure to get both units changed ASAP. Both mine failed around 60000 miles, with no history towing or heavy loading. They fail progressively rather than suddenly, with a small leak...

Re: E36 3.2 Headgasket DIY
A month since it went for its MOT, which failed as expected on a very noticeable suspension clunk, but which was very straightforward to fix so I just bit the bullet and got it done there and then. So we have an MOT! Great to get out and about in it in the sun for a while before a UK holiday and the...
